Polly has a baby!
When Polly first arrived, we suspected that she might be pregnant, but she is so thin that we couldn't be sure. Her pregnancy was definately confirmed on Saturday by Vero, our vet, at our first on-site vet clinic. She felt that Polly was expecting only one or two puppies.
On Sunday Polly took up residence in our upstairs bathroom and was reluctant to come downstairs. We wondered if this was a nesting instinct as we were expecting her to give birth in about 2 weeks.
Imagine our shock at bedtime last night when we discovered that Polly had given birth to a beautiful little boy! Although still a puppy herself (9 months) she is the picture of serene motherhood and is obviously feeling very proud of herself.
This lovely little girl was living on the streets only two weeks ago and we are so grateful that we were able to bring her into our home on time so she could have her baby in comfort and safety.
Polly's new hair cut looks great too - underneath all the tangled, matted hair was a truly beautiful little dog. She has such sad soulful eyes, she has been through so much already in her short life. We hope that her life will just continue to get better and better.
